Book Review: Christian Science: Continuing Evidence of Healing

This book includes over 80 verified accounts of healing,  including healings of alcoholism and addiction, appendicitis, a variety of  infections, colitis, broken bones, epilepsy, heart disease, cancer, multiple sclerosis, pneumonia, rheumatic fever: yes, all the ailments mortal man is heir to.

Many of the healings includes various quotations from the Bible, and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, Prose Works, and the Christian Science Hymnal.  One of the most striking examples was a testifier's account of the seven synonyms of God, and how she applied them:

"Because as God's spiritual image I reflect one perfect Mind, my thinking cannot be contaminated by error of any kind.  Because I reflect Soul, my beauty and grace are intact.  Reflecting infinite Spirit gives me vitality ad strength.  Principle stands by me on a firm foundation that cannot be eroded by accidents or circumstances.  Eternal Truth keeps me knowing only what God is knowing about me.  Universal Love is always surrounding and supporting me" (p. 252).

One of the more notable testimonies was given by an Army helicopter pilot who engaged in some 700 missions during the Vietnam War.  During one rescue mission, his and another's helicopter collided above the battlefield.  The collision sent both helicopters on a downward spiral,  Thanks to his daily persistent prayers, coupled with turning to God for help, his helicopter managed to right itself, resume flight, and return safely to base, thus sparing his life and the lives of about a dozen wounded soldiers. Other dramatic rescues include a machine gun attack, where the bullets miraculously ricocheted off the copter's aluminum outer skin ("Safe in a Combat Zone" (pgs. 184-190).
